The supplemental source in Merchant Center

Everything you approve in the Fix Center or in Feed optimisation, we write to a separate supplemental source in your Merchant Center — Google calls it a supplemental data source. Google layers this source over your product data without changing the original file: for each product ID, its value replaces the one from the feed or fills an empty field. It can't add or remove products (Google Help: Supplemental data sources).

Why this detour

• Your feed remains the truth of your shop system. Whoever exports it gets what they expect.
• You can undo any addition without rebuilding an export.
• Two parties don't get in each other's way: we only write to our source, never to yours.

In Merchant Center you'll find the source under Settings → Data sources → Product sources. If you delete it there, our additions are gone — the approvals in the portal then remain without any effect.
