Inventory level targeting: clear your stock with Local Inventory Ads
Gaps in your omnichannel or local advertising? Leftover stock after the holidays? Winter goods that need to go before spring? That's exactly what inventory level targeting is built for.
Google Shopping strategies for more revenue, in your inbox
Every other week: what is changing in Google Shopping, what we see in our customers' accounts, and what to do about it.
Inventory level targeting (ILT) steers your Google Shopping bids by actual stock levels – per store, per region, or across your whole network. Products with high stock get promoted harder, scarce items get throttled back.

For shops with a store network or Local Inventory Ads, this turns the feed into a real control lever – instead of just being a passive product list.
When does inventory level targeting suit your shop?
You run Local Inventory Ads with real stock data – or you're planning to, via a local inventory feed or the Content API.
You have store-specific goals or promotions: weekly deals, regional promos, prioritised local products such as top sellers.
You already use custom labels in your local inventory feed (or are ready to set them up).
How to implement inventory level targeting
Tag every product in your local inventory feed with a custom label by stock level – e.g. high / medium / low – or by merchandising priority (top seller, clearance, season).
Build Shopping or Performance Max campaigns segmented by these labels, and bid each segment towards its goal: aggressively for overstock and clearance, defensively for scarce SKUs.
Update the feed at least daily so the labels track real stock, and review ROAS per label weekly.
With a CSS partner you get 25% more bidding power from the same budget
Inventory level targeting decides where the budget flows. A Google CSS partner decides how far each euro goes: with csspartner.io, you bid in the Shopping auction with the full bid instead of the markup that Google Shopping would otherwise keep.
Combine the two: ILT pushes the right products, and CSS pushes them with 25% more bidding power at the same budget – or 20% lower CPC at the same position.
