Google Shopping Ads launch in Croatia – what advertisers need to know

From September 2026, Google Shopping Ads will be available in Croatia for the first time. As an EU member with its own euro currency and growing digital purchasing power, Croatia is an attractive target market – especially for advertisers from the DACH region who benefit from geographic and cultural proximity.

The market at a glance

Croatia has developed into a solid ecommerce market over the past few years. Market volume reached around USD 1.05 billion in 2025 and is forecast to grow to more than USD 2 billion by 2030 – with a projected annual growth rate of 14.27%.

Two developments make Croatia particularly interesting: the euro adoption in January 2023 has significantly simplified cross-border price comparisons and payments. In addition, a state-run digitalization program supports SME investments in ecommerce infrastructure with up to €10,000 – more than 30,000 companies have already used the funding, considerably expanding the merchant base.

  • 2025 market volume: ~USD 1.05 billion
  • Growth forecast CAGR: 14.27% through 2030
  • Cross-border: strong growth in cross-border online trade
  • Logistics: Croatian Post is rolling out 150 new parcel lockers along the Adriatic coast (2025)

Language launch and localization roadmap

Shopping Ads in Croatia will launch in English first. Croatian language support follows in Phase 2 (target launch: March 2027).

What this means for advertisers: English-language feeds are enough at the start. The time until March 2027 should be used to prepare professional Croatian translations for product titles, descriptions and attributes.

Strategic opportunities for advertisers

  • Tourism-driven categories: Croatia welcomes more than 20 million tourists every year – making fashion, outdoor products, electronics and lifestyle items particularly relevant, also in a cross-border context.
  • DACH proximity: many Croatian consumers already buy from German, Austrian and Swiss online stores. Shopping Ads now make it easier to reach them at the right moment of purchase intent.
  • Growing infrastructure: Revolut recorded 100,000 new users in Croatia in the first month after launching its RevPoints feature (December 2024) – willingness to pay online is high.
  • Top categories: fashion & apparel, electronics, travel, home and groceries.

CSS requirements

Croatia is an EU member state. Shopping Ads must therefore be served through a qualified CSS partner (Comparison Shopping Service). Check whether your CSS partner already covers Croatia – or talk to us, we'll help you set things up.

Checklist: preparing for launch

  • Audit your product feed for completeness (images, prices, GTINs, shipping costs for HR)
  • Confirm CSS coverage for Croatia
  • Plan Croatian feed translations for Phase 2 (March 2027)
  • Configure delivery times and costs for Croatia in the feed
  • Reserve a test budget for Q3/Q4 2026
  • Verify conversion tracking for .hr landing pages

Bottom line

Croatia combines EU legal certainty, euro stability and a young, growing ecommerce audience. With the launch of Google Shopping Ads in September 2026 – just in time before peak season – early movers can build a market position before the competition reacts.
