Google Shopping Ads launch in Bulgaria – what advertisers need to know

From September 2026, Google Shopping Ads will be available in Bulgaria for the first time. For ecommerce companies that want to grow in South-Eastern Europe, one of the region's most dynamic markets is opening up – with low entry CPCs and a market that has doubled in size over the last four years.

The market at a glance

Bulgaria has become Eastern Europe's ecommerce growth engine. B2C online trade reached a volume of over €2.69 billion in 2025 – up around 15% year on year. According to the Bulgarian E-Commerce Association, that makes Bulgaria one of the most dynamic digital markets in all of Eastern Europe, representing close to 13.5% of the entire Eastern European ecommerce market.

Since 1 January 2026, Bulgaria has been a member of the eurozone – a milestone that strengthens trust in online payments, simplifies cross-border price comparisons and eases market access for Western European advertisers.

  • 2026 market volume: ~€3.57 billion (forecast)
  • Online buyers: more than 55% of the population (16–74) already shop online
  • Mobile commerce: 77% of traffic and 68% of orders come from smartphones
  • Growth outlook to 2030: €8–10 billion+

Language launch and localization roadmap

Shopping Ads in Bulgaria will launch in English first. Bulgarian language support follows in Phase 2 (target launch: March 2027).

What this means: anyone joining now can start gathering data with English-language product feeds – and has until March 2027 to prepare high-quality Bulgarian translations of titles, descriptions and attributes.

Strategic opportunities for advertisers

  • Early market access: CPCs in new Shopping Ads markets are typically low at the start because local competition is limited. The timing just before peak season (Black Friday, Christmas) offers additional upside.
  • Top categories: electronics, fashion & apparel, cosmetics and household goods dominate Bulgarian online retail. Social commerce via Facebook (3.6M users) and Instagram is growing especially fast.
  • Logistics: Bulgarian consumers expect cross-border deliveries from Western Europe within 4–5 days. Clear delivery-time communication in the feed is decisive.

CSS requirements

Bulgaria is an EU member state. That means Shopping Ads must be served through a qualified CSS partner (Comparison Shopping Service). Make sure your CSS partner covers Bulgaria – or talk to us; we'll help you set things up.

Checklist: preparing for launch

  • Audit your product feed for completeness and quality (images, prices, GTINs)
  • Confirm CSS coverage for Bulgaria
  • Commission Bulgarian feed translations for Phase 2 (March 2027)
  • Configure delivery terms and shipping times for BG
  • Plan a test budget for Q3/Q4 2026
  • Verify conversion tracking for .bg landing pages

Bottom line

Bulgaria is no longer a niche market – it is one of Europe's fastest-growing ecommerce markets, now boosted by euro adoption. The launch of Google Shopping Ads in September 2026 comes at the right time. Early movers benefit from low CPCs and build a data advantage before competition heats up.
