Google Shopping Ads launch in Luxembourg – what advertisers need to know

From September 2026, Google Shopping Ads will be available in Luxembourg for the first time – and directly in French, German and English. Luxembourg is one of Europe's highest-purchasing-power markets and especially attractive for DACH advertisers: with existing German and French feed assets, the market can be unlocked without extra effort.

The market at a glance

With around 680,000 inhabitants, Luxembourg has one of the highest per-capita purchasing-power parities in the EU. Ecommerce already accounts for around 26% of online retail – comparable to leading markets like Sweden and Denmark. The population is multilingual, international and digitally savvy.

Luxembourg is also an important cross-border trade hub: more than 200,000 workers commute daily from Germany, France and Belgium – a market culturally and economically intertwined with its neighbours.

  • Population: ~680,000 (+ ~200,000 daily cross-border commuters)
  • Per-capita purchasing power: among the highest in the EU
  • Ecommerce share: ~26% of total retail
  • Languages: Luxembourgish (everyday), German, French, English (all widely spoken)
  • Currency: Euro (founding member of the Eurozone)

Trilingual market launch

Luxembourg is the only country launching in three languages simultaneously: French, German and English. For DACH-region advertisers with existing German feed assets, this means immediate market access without translation work.

French-language assets can be reused directly from France or Belgium campaigns – a significant efficiency gain.

Strategic opportunities for advertisers

  • Best growth option for DACH advertisers: Luxembourg is the only new market launching directly in German. Anyone running Shopping Ads in Germany can essentially add Luxembourg with one click.
  • High purchasing power audience: Luxembourg consumers have high disposable income and are willing to pay for quality. Premium products and high-end brands perform above average here.
  • Low competition expected: Luxembourg is a small market that many advertisers have overlooked. CPCs are expected to start low.
  • Cross-border commuter effect: Thousands of Germans, French and Belgians shop in Luxembourg or order online – a larger effective audience than the resident population suggests.

CSS requirements

Luxembourg is an EU member state. Shopping Ads must therefore be served through a qualified CSS partner (Comparison Shopping Service).

Checklist: preparing for launch

  • Activate existing German and French feed assets for Luxembourg
  • Secure CSS coverage for LU
  • Configure shipping costs and delivery options for Luxembourg
  • Extend campaign structure to include Luxembourg as a target country
  • Review pricing positioning for a high purchasing-power audience

Bottom line

Luxembourg is the easiest market entry of this expansion – a trilingual launch, the highest purchasing power in the EU and ideal synergies with existing DACH and FR campaigns. No excuse to skip this market.
