Of course it can happen that you want to change your CSS partner. That sounds complicated, but it’s actually quite simple.

If you keep an existing Merchant Center account but want to work with a different price comparison portal, Google can migrate your account from one price comparison portal to another. The prerequisite is that both portals agree to the migration. Ask your new portal staff to contact Google support regarding the migration. A Merchant Center account can only be assigned to one price comparison portal.

There is no need to migrate Google Ads accounts. The price comparison portal your ads and free listings are linked to is set in your Merchant Center account. When you use product data from a Merchant Center account that is linked to a particular price comparison portal for a campaign in any Google Ads account, the campaign is assigned to that portal.

When migrating a Merchant Center account from Google Shopping to another price comparison site, here are some things to keep in mind:

Ads for remarketing on the Display Network and platforms outside of Google Search: If the price comparison portal you are migrating to doesn’t support remarketing ads on the Display Network and on platforms beyond Google Search, your ads will only be shown on Google search results pages and not on the other platforms.

Product data for countries in which the price comparison portal program is not available: If the migrated Merchant Center account contains product data for countries where the Price Comparison Portal program is not available, those ads and listings will no longer serve because price comparison portals will not be able to display ads and listings in those countries. If you would like to continue showing ads and listings in countries where the program is available and in countries where it is not, you have two options:

    • Create a new Google Shopping Merchant Center account that contains your product details for those countries where the price comparison portal program is not available. Migrate your existing Merchant Center account to the price comparison portal to place ads and listings in countries where the price comparison portal program is available.
    • Ask the new portal staff to create a new Merchant Center account that will contain your product details for countries where the price comparison portal program is available. Use your existing Google Shopping Merchant Center account to post ads and listings in countries where the Price Comparison Portal program is not available.

There are two possible scenarios when migrating your Merchant Center account from Google Shopping to a new price comparison site:

The account is migrated as a sub-account of the multiple customer account for the price comparison portal: In this case, the portal will automatically have access to your account.

The account is migrated as a standalone account: In this case, the price comparison portal will not automatically have access to your account. The portal employees must be added manually as users of the account.
